  1. Rainy Holiday

From the recording Out to Lunch

Lyrics

Rainy Holiday
Drew James © 2004

She’s my rainy holiday
The semi-sweet icing on my cake
The bubbles in the champagne
That spills out on the tray
Life with her is like a Rainy Holiday

The fingers of her hand
Hold my every wish at her command
Lifting me to heaven
Or sifting me to sand
All with the fingers of her hand

I took her to the carousel
And she set the horses free
But they didn’t know where to go

She filled her house with clocks
And then she turned and said to me
“Some things never grow old”

She’s my rainy holiday
Showing all her cards before the game
But the one that always wins me
Is the one she never plays
Except on Rainy Holidays

She lines her shelves with flowers
Raised in pots of red and green
I tell her, ”My how they’ve grown”

She named them all like children
Then she laughed and said to me
“At least they’ll never leave home”

My rainy holiday
The perfect excuse for sleeping late
The world outside her door begins
To slowly drift away
I love Rainy Holidays

Thise rainy holidays
The semi-sweet icing on my cake
The bubbles in the champagne
That spills out on the tray
Life with her is like a Rainy Holiday (X2)
